Chance For Change, Enactus Aston
Unleashing the transformative power of food and cultural exchange, Chance for Change is an award-winning refugee empowerment initiative.
Through their mouthwatering, global recipe book, they've sold 280 copies, generating £2,240 in revenue. But here's the twist – they've reinvested every penny to empower more refugees as food entrepreneurs, obtaining licenses and certificates to help them flourish.
Not stopping at recipes, we've nurtured dreams. Tailored English and employment support have propelled refugees on career journeys, opening doors to networks, mentors, and workshops. We've empowered individuals, fortified communities, and battled food poverty with understanding and collaboration.
In partnership with esteemed allies ACH, ASTON SU, and SODEXO, they've crafted a platform that uplifts lives, aligns with the UN's zero hunger and responsible consumption goals, and leaves a lasting legacy.

Over 68 Million people were displaced when Chance for Change was set up, a refugee empowerment initiative that seeks to honour and elevate the cultural heritage and cuisine of refugees while simultaneously addressing societal issues related to food.

Chance for Change addresses both the refugee crisis in Birmingham and additional challenges refugees face such as food poverty, social isolation and lack of employment opportunity.
Through a two-stage model, Chance for Change empowers their beneficiaries through both English support sessions and Employment support. Both of which tackle social isolation and support the integration of the refugees into society.
To ensure the financial sustinability of the programme Chance for Change using the skillset of their beneficiaries have created the ‘Chance for Change Global Recipe Book’. This is a fantastic way to showcase the culture of the refugees they work with and also raise vital funds to support their project. -
